Prithvi Shaw, who made his debut against West Indies in Rajkot has achieved few spectacular milestones. He became the second youngest batsman to debut for team India after Sachin Tendulkar made his debut in 1989 against Pakistan at the age of 16. Prithvi Shaw scored 50 off 56 balls and also became the youngest player to score test debut fifty for India. And then he became the youngest to score a Test century on debut for India.
Prithvi Shaw reached the milestone to score a test century on debut for India in 99 balls with 114 boundaries. He also became the 106th player to score a century on Test Debut. Earlier, it was Rohit Sharma who achieved this feat was Rohit Sharma against West Indies in 2013. Talking about the Indian Team, 15 players have scored centuries on Test Debut.
Earlier, Shaw became the fifth youngest opener to a score a 50 on Test debut behind – Hanif Mohammad, Jeff Stollmeyer, Tamim Iqbal and Imran Farhat. India lost K.L. Rahul for a duck in the very first over of the two-match series at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium, as Caribbean pacer Shannon Gabriel took the wicket.
Though team India is not facing the best bowling attack, however Prithvi Shaw gave ample evidence of his talent with effortless boundaries and confident batting style in his test debut. It was skipper Virat Kohli who gave Prithvi Shaw the Test cap and he became the 293rd cricketer to represent India.
