The rumours of MS Dhoni retiring from the ODI format was flashing everywhere from television channels to the digital platform. However, Sunil Gavaskar has come in the rescue about the rumours and has given a statements in which he said that MS Dhoni took the ball to from the umpire to show it to the bowling coach of India.
The speculation started when MS Dhoni was seen in a clip asking for the match ball from the umpire and the crazy fans of Dhoni assumed that the former Indian skipper has decided to retire just a year ahead of the World Cup. One of the reasons why people believed this thing was because MS Dhoni was not in a good form in the three-match ODI series against England. He was also criticised by the cricket lovers and famous cricketers for his performance.
Everything started when MS Dhoni asked the match ball from umpires and then the assumptions started that he might retire from the game. However, Ravi Shastri, the head coach of India came forward to put a full stop on all such rumours as he has said that Dhoni asked for the ball to show it to India’s bowling coach, Bharat Arun.
“MS wanted to show the ball to Bharat Arun. He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like," he told The Times of India. Further, the head coach called the news of Dhoni’s retirement rubbish, "That's rubbish. MS is not going anywhere," he added.
